For a recently commissioned project I was given a standard photo snapshot and asked to convert it into something that could be hung as a focal-point artpiece. After a few mis-starts, including a probably ill-conceived Warhol-esque attempt, we settled on a mix of standard 2D Photoshop image retouching and 3D modeling. There were initially 2 different 3D renders planned, but the second scene, used much more detailed glass and liquid elements as well as HDRI lighting, which would have resulted in 36 hour renders. Because of the tight time-frame, 4 days, we decided to stick with the first render.. Full images after the jump
